I am Hiroki Takeda from university of Tokyo. Our laboratory conduct experimental researches on gravity and relativity. I am working on the test of gravity theories from the observation of gravitational waves and the test of Lorentz invariance for photons by using an optical ring cavity. I would like to talk about polarization test of gravitational waves this time. |

Gravitational waves have only two tensorial polarization modes in general relativity. However, there are four possible nontensorial polarization modes in addition to two tensorial modes in a general metric theory of gravity. Thus, polarization tests of gravitational waves can be strong tools for probing into the nature of gravity and space-time structure. We study the separability of the polarization modes for the inspiral gravitational waves from the compact binary coalescences with various gravitational-wave detectors systematically. |
